PPR Presents Limelight: Knuckles' Chaotix-26th Anniversary

wenty-six years ago this week in Japan, the Edgy Echidna in red who won the hearts of SEGA fans across the world decided to push his luck with the crowd even further with a brand new solo outing, Knuckles’ Chaotix, the flagship title for the new SEGA Genesis add-on console, the SEGA 32X.

As ambitious as it was, the 32-bit spinoff was a commercial flop, a flop that hasn’t seen a re-release since the ill-fated GameTap subscription service. Anyone who’s listened to the show the last twelve years knows just how much I love this damn game. For as obscure as it is, it’s legacy has carried on through the years with its colorful cast, and influences across a number of games, including the recent masterpiece that is Sonic Mania Plus. While the odds of getting an HD Re-release are as likely as SEGA announcing the Dreamcast 2,  I thought it would be nice to show this quirky little game some High-Definition love with an impromptu stream later tonight! Join me Saturday night, 04/24/2021, 5:45 PM Pacific Standard Time on our Twitch as I try to play through ith the best ending, and open that faithful door into Summer.

PPR Presents Limelight: DuckTales 2 Player

here’s a lot of doom and gloom today, with a side helping of tempered excitement for Next-Gen hardware that’s just on the horizon—we of course are going to go for something a little more different.

Disney’s DuckTales just debuted the 1 Hour special of “Let’s Get Dangerous” in their Season 3 lineup of episodes, and what makes it so special is that it was a backdoor pilot for the upcoming Darkwing Duck reboot that will air concurrently with the DuckTales reboot. This is the kind of wholesome shit that I needed in the month of October, and now more than ever, I really wanted to celebrate the news with one of my favorite NES ROM hacks available: DuckTales 2 Player.

This special hack released by hacker alias “Ti” not only improves the performance of DuckTales 2 for the NES, but it also gives you the ability to have a second player on-screen with you, and that second player is none other than the Terror that flaps in the night! Join us on Saturday, November 7th, at 9:00 PM Pacific at twitch.tv/presspauseradio as my girlfriend, Val, and I trying to stop Flintheart Glomgold with Duckburg’s and St. Canard’s Finest on the job!

Or at least something to that effect, and nowhere near as dramatic?

Well then do we have some news for you! Press Pause Radio will be conducting a weekly Twitch stream of Super Mario Maker, starting on Thursday, October 15th at 7:00 PM Pacific standard time, and every following Wednesday up until the middle of November.

PPR Presents Burger Time: World Kitchen

e’ve been doing Press Pause Radio for a really long time, and within that time, I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of things that were mere fantasies in my teenage youth, and I couldn’t be happier—but I’m hungry, and I think it’s high time I try to chase another fantasy of mine.

The culmination of Ser earning the number one spot on Raiden Fighters Jet’s Global Leaderboards, and my time with King of Kong has moved me into chasing towards my own spot in the superfluous echelon of holding a world record high score in a video game—and that games is one of my personal favorites, Burger Time.

The top 6 best scores of the world is currently curated on Twin Galaxies, with the top ranking score clocking in at 2,078,500 by a Mr. Matthew Grimm, while the bottom of the list sits at 7,800, belonging to Geoffrey Lin. For the next sixty days, I’m going stream a weekly attempt on Thursday night around 8:30 PM or so, and essentially strive to either take the top spot, or at the very least, try to beat out one of the remaining five scores for their spot among the list.

So naturally, I figured that this would make for an ideal feature for Press Pause Radio, where I could stream my efforts, and then chronicle the results of my crack at the score, making notes of what did or didn’t work in hopes that I’ll do better for the next run. So there you have it, I hope to have you guys cheer me on and watch from the comfort of Twitch, or troll on the whole thing all together, I don’t really give a shit as long as you guys sit back and watch!

PPR 88

his week, we talk about Twitch, no, not the actual act of twitching, or convulsing, or anything like that (go see a doctor folks if you're experiencing any of that on the reg by the by.) The conversation covers all the areas worth noting like monetization, new security implementation, online narcissism, and the whole platform just getting too damn big for its own britches.

Among other things, Andrew and George preach what the ALS Ice Bucket challenge, and what it SHOULD be about when you do it, along with the Burger King Kids Club, Captain Planet, Pauley Shore’s Son-in-Law, and fucking Bible Man of all things because when do we ever have a handle on things?
