PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class Of 2017-Part 2

he final half of our Two-Part annual Game of the year show is finally here, and not a moment too soon, because it seems like 2018 is shaping out to be another shitty year too—oh well, on to the games!

Everything from games to events that saw the light of day in 2017, across fourteen different categories, and we have that very list for you here now. We’ll be plowing through an incredible catalog of choices, debating with one another from beginning to end in this epic podcast, each voicing our vote for the winner of its corresponding category.

The only stipulation in the Golden Zonkies, is that any point, a wild card can be suggested by one of the hosts if majority vote dictates that another nomination is more deserving of the award instead of the choices presently casted.

So without further ado, we present to you all Press Pause Radio’s Golden Zonkies, class of 2017! Enjoy the show!

Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class Of 2017-Part 1

emember when we said the year 2016 sucked? Apparently the year 2017 sat back, and was all like “Hold my beer” and stuff, because man there were a lot of moments in it that just boiled it down to a 12-month shit show as well.  If there was one thing that 2017 did get right though, it was most definitely the video games, and let us tell you, it made for one of the hardest Golden Zonkey panels yet.

So hard in fact, that for the first time in Press Pause Radio history, we had to split the show up into two different parts! Our trademark Game of the Year podcast is special multi-part mega cast where we give our prestigious mark of excellence, a Golden Zonkey, to the game deserving of recognition towards that respective recognition.

Everything from games to events that saw the light of day in 2017, across fourteen different categories, and we have that very list for you here now. We’ll be plowing through an incredible catalog of choices, debating with one another from beginning to end in this epic podcast, each voicing our vote for the winner of its corresponding category.

PPR 7th Year Anniversary Special: Grandma's Boy Commentary

even is a lucky number for an anniversary year right? Well, I wish that sentiment was a bit closer to the truth, but 2016 has been it a bit of a bummer for some on a number of different levels—especially for George (seriously, send that guy “Hang in there” Cat meme or some shit on Twitter whenever you get the chance.)

One of which happens to be the loss of Doris Roberts, the senior actress of Everybody Loves Raymond fame; and because of this, we decide to record commentary for another role that she’s also best known for…a little film by the name of Grandma’s Boy.

George and Andrew argue about whether or not they still hold this movie in any high regard at all, while they sit back and see whether or not Ser’s enjoying since it was his first time watching this happily-schlocky Happy Madison joint. Between stories of recreational drug use, Nick Swardson shade, Grandma’s Boy trivia, Thrill Kill shout outs, and whether or not Uwe Boll looks like that fucking guy who played Damien Darhk in season 4 of Arrow.

This was one hoot of a show, and honestly, probably one our favorite commentaries that we’ve recorded yet.

I know we’ve said it before (and will most likely say it again the actual anniversary podcast), but the countless nights of editing, writing, laughing, and crying would not have been possible without you guys—I’m sincerely grateful for everyone who has supported us. The T-shirts and posters are still being made but will hit the store really soon (we’re really sorry about the wait!) I’m truly blessed to have PPR, all of us here are, and it’s all thanks to you lovable shmucks.

PPR 6th Year Anniversary Special: Street Fighter Commentary

ix years may not seem like a long time for some folks but, that’s quite time stamp when you really look at it, that’s 312 weeks, which is also 2,190 days, made of 52,590 hours; that’s impressive for a podcast driven website that has never literally shit itself—I can’t say the same from a figurative standpoint though.

So what better way to celebrate than what we normally do; Sitting down and goofing up a storm on what may possibly be one of the biggest film flops of the nineties—that’s how. Starring Jean Claude Van Damme, Raul Juliá, that one lady from Agents of Shield, and more, it’s Street Fighter, the movie based on the game…that’s now a movie—adapted from the hit video game (is this this getting through yet?)

In this anniversary commentary special, we bear through all of Van Damme’s cringe inducing dialogue, reminisce about all the Nickelodeon game shows that donated their stage sets to the production of this film, Love Boat, and more—strap in and prepare yourselves.

I know we’ve said it before (and will most likely say it again the actual anniversary podcast), but the countless nights of editing, writing, laughing, and crying would not have been possible without you guys—I’m sincerely grateful for everyone who has supported us. PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class of 2014

014; whether it was a year you cherished or hated, there’s no denying just how eventful the past twelve months have been—especially for video games.

From budding next-generation consoles that are gradually gaining ground after being on store shelves for nearly a year, to the challenges and questions that have shaken the industrial and culture foundations that drive the medium of video games and it’s direction; the 365thchapter we’re about  to close on has sure had a lot of shit happen in it.

And just what kind of year would it be without the annual Press Pause Radio’s Golden Zonkies awards to get their last word in?

Everything from games to events that saw the light of day in 2014, across fifteen different categories, and we have that very list for you here now. We’ll be plowing through a prestigious catalog of choices, debating with one another from beginning to end in this epic podcast, each voicing our vote for the winner of its respective category.

The only stipulation in the Golden Zonkies is that any point, a wild card can be suggested by one of the hosts if majority vote dictates that another nomination is more deserving of the award instead of the choices presently casted, but weirdly enough—it didn't happen this year....imagine that.

If you’ve got an issue with the Golden Zonkies and how it was conducted then just remember the only other rule; it’s our God Damn show and opinion anyway, so keep that in mind when you send us whatever discourse you have with our decisions after the show by doing the following:

Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. PPR Presents Burger Time: World Kitchen

e’ve been doing Press Pause Radio for a really long time, and within that time, I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of things that were mere fantasies in my teenage youth, and I couldn’t be happier—but I’m hungry, and I think it’s high time I try to chase another fantasy of mine.

The culmination of Ser earning the number one spot on Raiden Fighters Jet’s Global Leaderboards, and my time with King of Kong has moved me into chasing towards my own spot in the superfluous echelon of holding a world record high score in a video game—and that games is one of my personal favorites, Burger Time.

The top 6 best scores of the world is currently curated on Twin Galaxies, with the top ranking score clocking in at 2,078,500 by a Mr. Matthew Grimm, while the bottom of the list sits at 7,800, belonging to Geoffrey Lin. For the next sixty days, I’m going stream a weekly attempt on Thursday night around 8:30 PM or so, and essentially strive to either take the top spot, or at the very least, try to beat out one of the remaining five scores for their spot among the list.

So naturally, I figured that this would make for an ideal feature for Press Pause Radio, where I could stream my efforts, and then chronicle the results of my crack at the score, making notes of what did or didn’t work in hopes that I’ll do better for the next run. So there you have it, I hope to have you guys cheer me on and watch from the comfort of Twitch, or troll on the whole thing all together, I don’t really give a shit as long as you guys sit back and watch!
