The Best Ever... Crazy Awesome Character

Hello folks and welcome to a brand new shiny segment that I shall call “The Best Ever...”. Every two weeks or so, I will concoct a fancy offbeat topic and share my choice for the best ever...something or other. And then I will call upon you, fabulous readers and listeners of Press Pause Radio to dig through your brain cavities and whip out your favorites. First category, let's go!

During our voyages through virtual worlds, we encounter a lot of bizarre, quirky, oddball characters. Some are straight up crazy and some are just plain awesome. It takes a special kind of individual to build the bridge between crazy and awesome, and attain the title of “crazy awesome”.

My favorite combination of eccentric and kickass is hands down the funkalicious Doctor Dance of the mildly obscure Tecmo rhythm game, Unison. Doctor Dance is not just one groovy jive turkey with a stellar sense of style. He is a person of conviction, fighting “the man” for what he believes in: the undeniable human right to boogie down and get funky. When Ducker, the party pooper dictator of the futuristic city of Twin Ships, decides to outlaw dancing, Doctor Dance and his trio of ladies rebel with rhythm.

Doctor Dance's badass-ery does not end at his fashionable purple suit, fabulous Richard Simmons-esque personality, and affinity for disco rebellion. Later on in the game, it is revealed that Doctor Dance is no ordinary Ph. D of soul, he is in fact an alien sent from the planet of “Funk-O-Rama” to teach the dull citizens of Earth how to get down and funky. If that wasn't crazy awesome enough, after being shot by a laser gun that would presumably kill a normal man (and having his remains nonchalantly dragged around for awhile), Doctor Dance casually respawns his entire body, magenta suit and all, out of his afro. And despite having just returned from the grasps of death, he instantly inspires a dance party!

Doctor Dance stylishly went to death and back just to get funky fresh, therefore he is my all time favorite crazy cool character. Do you think your favorite can top that? Leave your pick for top "crazy awesome character" in the comments below!
