Vintage Play: Game Case World Interview

Some of us display game collections on shelves, while others prefer shutting them away from the world (it’s for their own good, dammit). Luckily, for both overprotective and negligent hoarders, there’s a better balance provided by Game Case World.

The 3DS Ambassador Survival Guide

September 1st marks the start of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program. The program was set into place after Nintendo dropped the price of the 3DS forty percent and made their loyal fan-base look like a bunch of dopes, but it makes efforts to accommodate early adopters with twenty free games. It seems yet again, however, that Nintendo has dropped the ball, and the program has already started off to a shaky start.

PPR Games Club: Little Nemo: The Dream Master

We welcome you to our fourth installment of the Press Pause Radio Games Club. In this episode, we will discuss the fanciful childhood adventure Little Nemo: The Dream Master for the Nintendo Entertainment System. And when you're talking about imaginative and sometimes arduous games from the past, there's only one person to call: Ray Barnholt. The 1UP/EGM writer and founder of Scroll Magazine joins us once again to discuss fiendish dandelions and candy-induced comas in great detail. We also take time at the beginning of the show to catch up with our Select Feedback segment, where you, the listeners, have an active part in the show's discussion. Come and join us as we adventure through Slumberland, with our gnarly beards and shoeless co-hosts.

Bits and Pieces: NES Cover Art

Remember when game covers weren't as uniform as they are today? There was once a time when every developer had their own design theme, and when cover art was somewhere between the literal definitions of "art" and "garbage." With over 700 titles to choose from in its hit-and-miss library, the NES was notorious for harboring many of these unique design themes, quite possibly containing more variations than any other system. In the years to follow, game companies began transitioning to a more conventional form of cover presentation, usually making sure every single game box (excluding "greatest hits" editions) looked almost exactly alike.

Press Pause Radio returns to the digital airwaves with a very special episode. This week we will take a step back from our normal format to discuss the recent anniversaries of the Nintendo Entertainment System as well as the Sony Playstation 2. Our first segment features GeorgieBoysAXE and Toast sitting down with Pokemon Podcast's own @Catiemari to reflect on all the whimsy and warm childhood memories of the NES.

The second segment switches up the lineup as the crew welcomes back @MrMattJay from Dualshockers as they converse about the big brick that could, the Playstation 2. The system that even after being on the market for over a decade still has games being published and played on a regular basis. We hope that you will enjoy our trip down memory lane, and if you have any memories or stories you would like to share feel free to share them through our forums or various social pages. Don't forget to rate and review us on iTunes and Zune, so we can reach more and more listeners. Enjoy the show!

Hello again everyone. We are still currently working on the website and hopefully will be launching the site officially very soon. In the meantime, however we here at Press Pause Radio have some very exciting news. You can now listen to Press Pause Radio on iTunes! This is a big step for us here and for our community as well. You can also subscribe to the podcast by clicking on the subscribe button, so you never miss a new episode. If you have some free time, please check us out and leave feedback. Thanks again for all of your support!

In this episode, we welcome a new member to the Press Pause Radio family, Andrew, or by his Hacker Alias, Toast, and we sit around to discuss one of the most annoying questions in Video Games—which Mario game is the best title between the two—Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World?

Join us as we try to objectively weigh the pros and cons of the two (albeit, with some skewed results.)
