PPR Presents Limelight Double-Feature: Mario Kart World & Slitterhead

ife’s been a bit busier than usual…BUT NOT TOO BUSY TO SNAG THE LATEST HARDWARE FROM NINTENDO YA HEEEAAAARRRD-DUH?!

Yup, despite a clumsy-ass preorder experience, George was able to bring the Switch 2 home, and he’s jonesing to stream the big new launch title that debuted with the platform, Mario Kart World!

Since Press Pause Radio is running behind on its streaming schedule though, some adjustments had to be made, and it looks like the cast has settled on making this Sunday a “Double-Feature” sort of production! So, in addition to getting a new look at Mario Kart World, we’re then going to heavily lead into some tonal whiplash and also broadcast some gameplay from one the sleeper-hits of 2024, Bokeh Game Studio Inc.’s Slitterhead. This body-horror action title seemingly…slittered between the cracks, and didn’t get the buzz we think it deserves, especially when you consider that it was masterminded by Keiichiro friggin’ Toyama, the visionary behind Silent Hill and Gravity Rush.

Be sure to tune in to our Twitch at 7:00 PM PST on 06/08/2025 to watch our gameplay of new Nintendo hardware and weird-ass obscurities! You can check out the streams here or directly on our Twitch Channel, and vibe along with us as we work towards ushering in a new age of Limelight for y'all!

PPR Presents Limelight: South of Midnight

t’s been 12 years since we’ve enjoyed the work of Compulsion Games with their captivating debut release of Contrast that was followed by their disappointingly disjointed sophomore release in We Happy Few, the third release takes players into the whimsical roots of Deep South Louisiana in South of Midnight.

The promise of a culturally rich, socially poignant PS2-ass PS2 like adventure just about ticks every box Press Pause Radio could ever ask for out of a game experience, and George is ready to answer the call of a grand scale bayou fantasy!

Be sure to tune in to our Twitch at 7:00 PM PST on 05/14/2025 to watch our gameplay  of one of the most exciting additions to GamesPass Ultimate yet! You can check out the streams here or directly on our Twitch Channel, and vibe along with us as we work towards ushering in a new age of Limelight for y'all!

PPR Presents Limelight: Pokémon Brown 20th Anniversary Edition

ow that a lot of the studio issues have been ironed out, Press Pause Radio will be able to do regular broadcasts for streaming and video again, and we’re starting off the block real WEIRD-like with an updated revision for one of the most celebrated ROM hacks released in the 21st century.

GameBoy-enthusiast studio, RainbowDev, first cut their teeth on the hardware with an expansive take on the first generation of the Nintendo classic, Pokémon. Twenty years and several other projects later, the studio has returned to where it all began, implementing multiple quality-of-life improvements into the Generation 1 foundation of the series; complete with new Pokémon  from current generations that have never seen the GameBoy screen, new types like Fairy along with additional fan made types like Sound, Gas, Wood, and more.

Join George as he treks through the mysterious region of  Rijon through the power of the Super GameBoy 2 on 05/02/2025 at 7:00 PM PST!

PPR Presents Limelight: Knuckles' Chaotix-26th Anniversary

wenty-six years ago this week in Japan, the Edgy Echidna in red who won the hearts of SEGA fans across the world decided to push his luck with the crowd even further with a brand new solo outing, Knuckles’ Chaotix, the flagship title for the new SEGA Genesis add-on console, the SEGA 32X.

As ambitious as it was, the 32-bit spinoff was a commercial flop, a flop that hasn’t seen a re-release since the ill-fated GameTap subscription service. Anyone who’s listened to the show the last twelve years knows just how much I love this damn game. For as obscure as it is, it’s legacy has carried on through the years with its colorful cast, and influences across a number of games, including the recent masterpiece that is Sonic Mania Plus. While the odds of getting an HD Re-release are as likely as SEGA announcing the Dreamcast 2,  I thought it would be nice to show this quirky little game some High-Definition love with an impromptu stream later tonight! Join me Saturday night, 04/24/2021, 5:45 PM Pacific Standard Time on our Twitch as I try to play through ith the best ending, and open that faithful door into Summer.

PPR Presents Limelight: Atomiswave Dreamcast Ports

o we totally know there’s a lot of hype for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and they’re currently the biggest deals in video games right now, but what if we told y’all that there was another big deal happening in the gaming scene right now—one that involved another household name in consoles…

Hacker alias MegaVolt85 from the Dreamcast-Talk Forum has taken it upon himself to convert all twenty-seven titles released for Sammy’s short-lived Arcade Haardware line, the Atomiswave. After some extensive review of the Coin-ops internal workings, it would seem that the system’s architecture is nearly identical to that of Sega’s 128-bit icon, making it possible to reformat the coding of these titles to natively run on the Dreamcast.

Yes you read that right, these games aren’t being emulated or ported, they are conversions that’re running natively on Dreamcast hardware—shit’s wild ain’t it?

Join us on Saturday, November 21st, at 7:00 PM Pacific at twitch.tv/presspauseradio as my girlfriend, Val, and I hit up the first  ten conversions made available so far. Games like Metal Slug 6, King of Fighters XI, Dolphine Blue, Faster than Speed, King of Fighters Neo Wave, Samurai Showdown VI, Demolish Fist, Maximum Speed, Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits, and Fist of The NorthStar.

PPR Presents Limelight: DuckTales 2 Player

here’s a lot of doom and gloom today, with a side helping of tempered excitement for Next-Gen hardware that’s just on the horizon—we of course are going to go for something a little more different.

Disney’s DuckTales just debuted the 1 Hour special of “Let’s Get Dangerous” in their Season 3 lineup of episodes, and what makes it so special is that it was a backdoor pilot for the upcoming Darkwing Duck reboot that will air concurrently with the DuckTales reboot. This is the kind of wholesome shit that I needed in the month of October, and now more than ever, I really wanted to celebrate the news with one of my favorite NES ROM hacks available: DuckTales 2 Player.

This special hack released by hacker alias “Ti” not only improves the performance of DuckTales 2 for the NES, but it also gives you the ability to have a second player on-screen with you, and that second player is none other than the Terror that flaps in the night! Join us on Saturday, November 7th, at 9:00 PM Pacific at twitch.tv/presspauseradio as my girlfriend, Val, and I trying to stop Flintheart Glomgold with Duckburg’s and St. Canard’s Finest on the job!
