QCF: BattleBlock Theater

he Behemoth always knows how to take a classic formula and make it something special, be it with aliens and Russians in Alien Hominid or the absurdly hilariously animated brawling antics in Castle Crashers, thier games just ooze style and humor. No small wonder with their vintage internet roots on Newgrounds.com. And, as it turns out, things have only still kept getting more awesomer, for real, with Battleblock Theater, a tale of shipwrecked friends, mysterious feline entities on a mysterious island, and Hatty Hattington, friend of all and forced to watch himself test the mettle of all those he loved in a jail-turned theater of sadistic horrors, aggressive cats, constant danger, and certain death.

PPR 73

ometimes life can be like a hurricane, and when it is, then you should be sure to grab on to some Disney games. The podcast gets heavy as we discuss all of the games and news from EA securing publishing/developing rights for Star Wars to Nintendo fucking around, and finally the featured topic, Walt Disney video games. Over the last 20 years we’ve seen a variety of licenses from the big D transformed into games, and we discuss whether these games are a testament of quality because of the license itself or their design-- we get steamy folks.

Rate and subscribe to us iTunes today, follow us on our new Twitch page, mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, and be sure to stop by at our Forums and register as well!

QCF: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

hen the cut scenes first begin in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, it seems like a cyberpunk version of the film Hot Shots! A parody of a parody seems ridiculous, right? That’s the entire point of a game like this being released: pure ridiculousness. Although larger than life, this standalone downloadable title is very small compared to the previously released Far Cry 3. Honestly though, I don't think that’s a negative at all. It’s nice that such a nostalgia-inducing experience sells for the cost of an '80s action movie that inspired it.

PPR Presents Lime Light: Ecco: Defender of The Future

ince we’re going all out, you don’t mind if we squeeze a Limelight out, I mean…it’s not like we’ve done one of those for a while, right? Well, the game in particular that we’ll be showcasing for our trademark stream is a bit obscure but it was also a majority vote among the followers of Press Pause Radio; Ecco: Defender of the Future. This was the last the game that starred the heroic dolphin of destiny and was the only three dimensional affair as well, it was kind of impressive on the Dreamcast for its day, but we’ll see how well it’s held up during the Limelight! Tune in around Saturday, May 11th, at 6:30 PM pacific time and join us in the chat on our Twitch page or settle in for the stream right here where George and Sean get down on the get down and might have a couple of brews and become one with the fishes.
