PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class of 2015

f 2015 was anything for us, it was the year we all had difficulty with being punctual with our shit—definitely our busiest.

Still, we enjoyed it more than we’ve lead on, and a lot of that had to do with the batch of games that were released last year; we got everything from anticipated blockbusters, to surprise smash hits that we’re STILL talking about.

Which leads us to our annual special from, Press Pause Radio—The Golden Zonkies. We’ve recorded a special mega cast where we give our prestigious mark of excellence, a Golden Zonkey, to the game deserving of recognition towards that respective recognition.

Everything from games to events that saw the light of day in 2015, across fourteen different categories, and we have that very list for you here now. We’ll be plowing through a incredible catalog of choices, debating with one another from beginning to end in this epic podcast, each voicing our vote for the winner of its corresponding category.

The only stipulation in the Golden Zonkies, is that any point, a wild card can be suggested by one of the hosts if majority vote dictates that another nomination is more deserving of the award instead of the choices presently casted.

So without further ado, kick up your feet, and saddle in (because this is a long one) and enjoy the show!

ey guys, it’s been a while, miss us? Because gorgeous ghosts, did we sure miss you all! We’re back, and hopefully now on a more regular recording schedule, so make sure you guys keep an eye on your feeds and subscriptions for the newest episodes to come out more often.

On that note, this episode was supposed to be about our most anticipated Holiday releases, but we got so wrapped with the volume of games we’ve been playing, and the catching up between us all that we just didn’t have the time to get into it—maybe next year.

Until then we talk Overkill and Payday 2, PS Vita, Steam Controller, Super Mario Maker, about McDonald’s being gross, The Taken King, Halo 5, Transformers: Devastation, John Cena’s theme song, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, Guitar Hero Live, Rock Band 4, and so much more.

Enjoy the show, and keep a look out for more reviews coming this way, and details about our Extra Life stream!

PPR Presents Limelight: Super Mario Maker-week 1

ey all of you amateur Plumber game curators, have you all been busy slaving away at Super Mario Maker in hopes of creating a memorable, challenging, or downright sadistic level that hope will change someone’s outlook on Mario for the rest of their natural born life?

Or at least something to that effect, and nowhere near as dramatic?

Here’s how it works; we want you guys to send us your best levels (or shit, just make some new ones, it’s all good) and then you’ll be able to tune in, to watch us play them! Send any of the levels you got to the email and social network links below!

Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. QCF: Super Mario Maker

K, so I admit defeat. I caved. I gave in. If you've been listening to the podcast proper, you'll know that I got a Wii-U. It was a moment of weakness. However, it also allowed me to get on the hype train for Super Mario Maker, a title that could easily be the Wii-U's ultimate killer app.

The concept is ludicrously simple; Build a level, no matter how long or short (within the limits the game sets in place both horizontally and vertically) and play it. You can make your stage as easy or as hard as you'd like, and with 120 slots, there's plenty of space for would-be Mario Makers to store a plethora of intricate – or simple – stages for them or their friends to play later. To start though, players only have a basic handful of tiles and enemies that can be placed in their stages.

PPR's Top 5 Super Mario Maker Levels

t’s only been a week since the release of the anticipated DIY-centric adventure about gaming’s star plumber, and we’ve already been treated to some of the niftiest stages, and levels to have ever come out of the minds of intrepid gamers everywhere.

Seriously, some of the stuff to come out of Super Mario Maker so far has generated a sensation that contemporaries like Little Big Planet could only dream of, and it’s only going to get bigger. So while we’re preparing our review of the game, and enjoying some of the shenanigans ourselves, I figure that I would share with you all, my top five favorite levels to have generated out of the fun little Nintendo experiment so far and their respective access codes—in no particular order mind you, they’re all really awesome.

etter late than ever, something as trifling as a transition period and relocation won’t stop the voice of Press Pause Radio, (though admittedly, it’s been murder on our punctuality.) We’re here to discuss all of the highlights of the press events and announcements dropped at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.

This episode dives into Holo-lens, Backwards-Compatibility, Fallout 4, Super Mario Maker, Super Smash Bros DLC, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Shenmue III, and more; E3 was weirdly fun this year, maybe we might enjoy the next one like this? Who know, but just click the damn play button already, it’s a new Press Pause Radio!
