Bullet Heaven #236 - Rym 9000 (PS4)

EPILEPSY AND PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING IS IN FULL PLAY.
Ear Bleeding? Eye Melting? Is this really what we need in a shmup? Without a doubt, it definitely earns its Epilepsy warning. Rym 9000 makes its case for use of extreme audiovisual means. But how does it stack up?

Bullet Heaven 231 - Gundemoniums (PS4)

Over 180 episodes ago, we took a look at Rockin' Android's Gundemonium Collection on the Playstation 3. One of the three games included was a title called Gundemonium recollection which, while not as good as the third title in the series, GundeadliGne, was still pretty great. Well, Gundemonium is back with its newest evolution on the playstation 4 and Vita, know known as Gundemoniums. So it's finally time to dig deep into what this one is all about... but how does it stack up?

Bullet Heaven #225 - Velocity 2X (Switch)

Shooting games with another genre blended in? Pretty neat, but what about a game with two totally different play styles that make up ots whole gameplay apporach? Futurlabs' Velocity 2X might hold the answer. How does it stack up?

QCF: Blade Strangers

ighting games are a staple here at PPR. Capcom, SNK Playmore and Arc System Works still reign supreme in the genre, there's no denying that, but it sure would be nice to have a decent fighting game from a completely different studio—something with high-res sprites, decent backgrounds, maybe a crossover of some kind. Like, if there was a game that took a bunch of obscure but cool characters from a slew of cult classics and indies and threw them into a super-Japanese story involving a bunch of computers and a super-strong deity. It would be cool if it were created by Studio Sai Zen Sen, the creators of Code of Princess EX, and published by Nicalis too.

Eh? Whazzat? This exact thing exists, in the form of Blade Strangers on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4? Oh, neat. And, as it turns out, it's a pretty fun versus fighting game, too? Well, sign me up!

Bullet Heaven Episode 219 - Defenders of Ekron (PS4)

Defenders of Ekron was a title we really should have examined back in 2017, but the stars never really aligned for us to do it. With the recent release of the Definitive edition of the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC on August 7th, we thought it was about time. How does this amalgamation of shooting game and adventure title hold up? Let's take a look!

Bullet Heaven, Episode 216 - Tempest 4000 (PS4)

empest 2000 is a pretty great time, but it's time for a new version of Tempest for a new generation. Rather than having a Tempest clone on the PS4, Atari instead chose to have the devs behind Txk, Llamasoft, work on an official Tempest game instead. The result is Tempest 4000... but how does it stack up?

fter a seventeen year chasm in time, the Fear Effect crew is back. Back in the late 90's/early 2000's, the Fear Effect saga brought players to a cyberpunk world full of espionage, digital terrorism, and a unique story brought together by the team of Hana, Glas, Rain, and Deke. While the original title and its sequel, Retro Helix, may serve as a nostalgic gaming experience, there were some major imperfections as far as gameplay and controls. Fear Effect Sedna comes jam-packed with the nostalgia, but is the gameplay overhaul better than what its predecessors could do?
