PAX East 2012: Pocketwatch Game Interview; Monaco

Traveling along the bend of the Boston Indie Showcase, I happened upon Andy Schatz of Pocketwatch Games and witnessed him display the long developed Monaco for play. As I stood and played a game with the stoic indie developer, I had some burning questions to ask that only he could answer to learn more about Monaco.

PPR at PAX East 2012 Special

It has been a few days since Team PPR has returned from PAX East 2012 and we have complied several recordings we made throughout the weekend for you to enjoy. The first half of the show we were able to trick Shawn Andrich and Cory Banks from Gamers With Jobs to record with George and Catie, as well as our good friend Derek Lavigne. In that first segment the group discussed sleeping in train stations, how PPR killed The Couchbound Network (probably) and all the games that we saw and played at PAX East. The second segment is the entire team that attended the convention conversing over the content that was posted on the site over the three day event, as well as some of the controversy surrounding the Mass Effect 3 panel and other happenings on the show floor. It was our absolute pleasure to cover PAX East 2012, and we are grateful for everyone that followed the site and that we had the pleasure to meet in person. Thank you for a great show, and we cannot wait to do it again at the next PAX!

GDC 12: The return of Beat'em up Brawlers

Constantly moving to the right, punching every single moving thing with two or four legs directly in the face that is what it truly is to be beat’em up. In this day and age, the genre hasn’t had the best of journeys, and most of us often fancy the better days wearing rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia. Re-releases and throwbacks aside, three games aim to bring back the rush of beating a roasted turkey out of someone’s chest as we take a look at what they had to offer with some white-knuckled playtime.

GDC 12: Indie Game The Movie Impressions

On Monday night, GDC attendees had the opportunity to get a free screening of Indie Game: The Movie. The film sets to encapsulate the experience of three different indie developers and their struggles they face in their craft of game development. The movie hasn’t seen commercial release yet, but it should be on everyone’s radar. Behind the all of the tropes one would associate with a documentary and their exaggerated portrayals, Indie Game: The Movie sets out to show you every gut wrenching moment and it may just even touch your heart.
