That's right, we will be streaming on Twitch tonight! We should be (maybe) live around 8 pm EST jumping into the upcoming title Totally Reliable Delivery Service from We're Five Games and tinyBuild on the Epic Game Store. Hope to see you there!

PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class Of 2019

an, I don’t know about you guys but it feels like it we post this this annual special of ours even later than the last one, year by year—we’re really sorry about that. Rest assured, just as reliable as the groundhog, and its shadow, so too is our Game-of-the-year feature, The Golden Zonkies! (well, at least until Climate change fucks it all up for everyone anyway.)

In case y’all don’t remember the updated flow from last year’s show, we have changed up our format for the special mega cast—we’re doing away with categories!  Now, bear in mind, we’re still giving our prestigious mark of excellence, a Golden Zonkey, to the games that are deserving of recognition, only, we’re not doing by a respective genre, or category. Instead, we will be giving them out in a personal list format by each of us in the podcast, and we’ll be spending time discussing why we picked the titles we did within a countdown of five, and before we even get into that, we’ll also do a roundtable of games that were worth a quick mention from the year. We will then award the “Golden Zonkey of The Year” in a unanimous vote that was similar to previous format, and conclude the show from there.

We’re also planning another Golden Zonkey Special, a top ten best of list for the past decade! Keep an eye out for it because we’ll be dropping that one real soon!

Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. Finally, make sure to rate and subscribe to us on iTunes and YouTube, follow us on Twitch page and Twitter, and finally take part in our Facebook and Steam group!

QCF: Broken Lines (Steam)

hen deciding to review Broken Lines I was unsure why I was so interested in playing it. I am not good at all at strategy games of any kind, and I have very little interest in war themed entertainment. Then I realized what it was that drew me to the Steam digital game released by Super! Publishing. I thought back to other games that tackled turned based strategy in an alternate timeline of war in the twentieth century, and I was eager to see how the developer PortaPlay would approach this hybrid of RPG and tactics. I was happy to find out that Broken Lines takes influence from strategy games from the current generation and the recent development of mental state mechanics of newer independent role-playing games to create a solid entry into the genre. A story that sometimes misfires and AI that can frustrate does not take too much away from a challenging and satisfying experience.

QCF: ModMic USB & ModMic Wireless REVIEW

We have been using Antlion Audio's Mod Mics for some time now; the quality of our livestreams has been top notch, thanks to the quality of the microphones that Antlion produces. So naturally, we were quite excited to check out their latest gear: The ModMic USB and ModMic Wireless!

For those not in the know, the ModMic line can turn any pair of headphones into a kickass headset. All ModMics simply adhere to the side of a pair of headphones with a magnetic anchor and voila: a custom gaming headset that sounds great for both the speaker and the listener. Thanks to the strength of the magnets in the modmic's sockets, they'll stay in firmly in place, but players can also simply remove the mic from their headphones when not in use.

We have always used AudioTechnica headphones for as long as we've made content, so being able to stream with an excellent mic without losing the sound quality we've gotten used to is fantastic.

The new line of ModMics are even more plug and play than before; with the ModMic USB, players simply plug the mic into any USB port and that's it. The included cable clasps hold the ModMic's cabling right alongside the player's headphones'.

But the ModMic Wireless is even simpler; plug in the included USB dongle, hold both buttons until the Blue LED flashes rapidly and they'll sync. That's it. No wires to mess about with, making for a clean, easy setup. Bonus points if using wireless headphones!

Both the USB and Wireless have a switch in the mic capsule that allows users to select omnidirectional capture for a more general recording field and a unidirectiondal setting for a more directional, focused field. But how do they sound? We find out in the latest Random Play.

QCF: Super Crush KO (Switch)

So far in my brief experience with the Nintendo Switch, I have enjoyed several beat-em-ups and action games. However, I seem to struggle with the titles that rely heavily on combo-driven combat and precise controls. Something like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry would be a struggle for not only a novice such as myself, but for playing on a Switch that is never hooked up to a television or using a controller. Thankfully the fine individuals at Vertex Pop have made a name for themselves releasing approachable and stylish indie games that do not compromise on the action. Their latest release, Super Crush KO is a colorful and stylish hybrid of the above-mentioned genre and run ‘n gun that although is short to complete and possibly less of a challenge for experienced players, nonetheless is a worthwhile addition to the platform.
