Quarter Circle Forward Review: Ms. Splosion Man

In the beginning there was man, or woman I’m not really sure…The point I’m trying to make is that within the homo sapien race exist two genders, and Twisted Pixel has given it’s exploding hero a counter-part of the fairer sex to star in very own video game. Ms. Splosion Man may take its inspiration from the concept of Ms. Pac-man but I can assure you this is not 'Splosion Man with a bow-tie and I’ll start off by explaining why.

Interview with Twisted Pixel

During our coverage of PAX East 2011 we interviewed Jay Stuckwisch from Twisted Pixel about their upcoming Xbox Live Arcade release Ms. Splosion Man. Due to poor audio quality the interview was not featured on that podcast. On the eve of the game's release, we at Press Pause Radio would like to take a look back at our time with the developer as we discuss broken controllers, Jetsons cars and explosions. Enjoy!

Quarter Circle Forward Review: Dungeon Siege 3

 “ALL THE SPIDERS!!!!”

Dungeon Siege has been a staple series on the PC for more than a decade. Although some would consider this series a “poor man’s Diablo”, the series -- for the most part -- has been a solid loot whoring experience with gratifying combat and hours of goodness packed into each installment. The series was always a dependable way to scratch that loot whoring itch between Diablo releases. The third entry keeps the streak going but falls short of greatness.

Bullet Heaven HD, Episode 35 - Raiden III

North America saw very little in the way of shoot-em-up games for the Playstation 2. Only seven titles were ever released, making it seem as if the end was nigh for the shmup as a whole. In 2007, after the launch of all "next gen" systems, and a seeming second chance for shooters on the Xbox 360 in Japan, Raiden III was made available in North America for the PS2... but was it too little too late?

Ten Strikes: Potential Ban of Fair Use and Streaming

Just when consumers everywhere were relieved with the Supreme Court's decision on video game distribution in California, we find ourselves facing another bombshell. By now you’ve probably heard about this upcoming proposition to regulate streamed media content online. Sure, “Ten Strikes” sounds like plenty of chances, but it really isn’t for many smaller publications and aspiring journalists.

For those of you who have yet to year about this bill (S. 978), it would practically outlaw all of YouTube, and any similar video sites or posts. Want to see other gamers stream a live event? You could kiss that goodbye. How about that podcast you listen to (like us), which occasionally uses tiny bits of music from your favorite video games? Sorry, but it’s going to start sounding much more dull โ”€ if they continue and don’t all get arrested.

For those of you who wish to voice your opinion on this upcoming travesty, you can head over to Demand Progress, and have a letter sent to your local US representative (or even write them yourself).

It is crucial that we speak up and make the system work. We know that you love us (or at least love to hate us), so we here at Press Pause Radio ask that you continue to support us โ”€ and our friends elsewhere โ”€ by contacting your local representative, and speaking up for these rights. But please, no curse words. We don’t need to give the gaming community a bad name, nor do we need to strengthen the stereotype that all gamers play Grand Theft Auto and Halo in order to fuel their aggression.

Bullet Heaven HD, Episode 34 - Shooter: Starfighter Sanvein

Bullet Heaven gets a surprise! In this episode, we take a look at Shooter: Starfighter Sanvein for the PSone. Released in 2001 as part of the Agetec A1 line of $10 budget games, Starfighter Sanvein isn't exactly your typical shooter, and was largely ignored thanks to its ultra budget, no-frills advertising. Was it ever worth a look? And does it hold up today?

QCF: Duke Nukem Forever

Excuse me, I’m sorry for the awkward introductory sentence but I just can’t get over the twisted irony of this review being as late as it is and this twisted fucking paradox just keeps getting funnier and funnier as I think about it. Alright well are we both done chuckling? Good.
