QCF: Street Fighter x Mega Man

ega Man has been all but a whimsical phantom during 2012. 2011’s cancellation of Mega Man Universe followed up by Capcom terminating the sequel to the Mascot’s cult-favorite franchise, Mega Man Legends 3, had many Capcom supporters and players scratching their heads as the 25th anniversary of the blue bomber was fast approaching. Reality for Mega Man only seemed grimmer since Keiji Inafune left Capcom, and the only significant appearance the beloved character made in 2012 was in a cross-over fighting game cameo that went a step further to depict him in a parody that caricatured a particularly unfavorable appearance from his past.

QCF: Scribblenauts Unlimited

th Cell created quite the stir with Scribblenauts, a handheld puzzle game that mostly bound within the limitations of your imagination, when it first hit the scene in 2007. The latest installment, aptly subtitled Unlimited, gives you the tools to launch your imagination gloriously from the depths of your cortex vault and onto the screens of your television and Wii U gamepad.

While Scribblenauts Unlimited just may be the finest example of the concept utilizing all of the grand potential it has to offer, the advantages that the Wii U has to offer for the software are overlooked to an offensive degree. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a game where you can ride a narcissistic robot Pegasus with a flamethrower equipped or play a game of chess with a depressed clown while wearing a frog suit, but in the end you’re still left with a bitter taste of restraint and disappointment. And this time, it’s inexcusable.

Press Pause Radio presents The Golden Zonkey Awards of 2012

e are nearing the end of 2012, and with the end of this giant year for video gaming, we here at Press Pause Radio have decided to shake things up a bit. In the past, we normally just choose a personal Top 10 list for the games released within the year in which we talk to a certain degree as to why they made our list; we figured that this wasn’t going to work for us this time around. Therefore, this year, we’re going all out with our own game of the year award show that we’ll be recording instead; aptly titled, The Golden Zonkies!

Below is a list of the eligible titles that we have all nominated to win the particular Golden Zonkey awarded for the category displayed. We’ll be recording this weekend and updating this post with winners for the appropriate categories as we publish the podcast. Until that happens, be sure to check out what’s been nominated for the official 2012 Golden Zonkey Awards!

QCF: Playstation All Stars Battle Royale

ince it’s unveiling earlier this year, Playstation All Stars Battle Royale has constantly received comparisons to another system exclusive fighting game. All throughout this year, I was one of those people commenting on the similarities and how Sony and Superbot Entertainment were simply capitalizing on a formula that has been proven to work. I am very happy to report that after many hours of playing across the single player and multiplayer modes, the final product does not just compare to the other mascot brawler on the market, it does even better and in doing so exceeds my lofty expectations.
