PAX Prime 2013: Kicking down the Stinky Footboard

can admit that I have issues when it comes to playing complex video games. So many of the buttons are a strain to reach and different combinations are at times difficult to execute. This is greatly expanded whenever I need to play something on a PC using a keyboard and mouse. By the time I find out which key allows me to run, or how to change the camera mode I have already been taking out by the opposition. It would be nice if playing the game could be simplified in some way, perhaps with the assistance of a strangely named computer accessory. This is where the Stinky Footboard comes to the rescue.

PAX Prime 2013: Hands-On with Dying Light

othing frightens me more than the idea of someone behind me. The instinctive glance over the shoulder, hearing footsteps mimicking your own. It is the reason why I could never go up or down stairs in the dark as a child. Techland and Warner Bros. Games are encasing this feeling of terror and helplessness into a game where sometimes your only chance of survival is to run. Dying Light takes elements of other original games and are able to bring it into the zombie/undead/infected space with great efficiency.

PAX Prime 2013: The Sega Mini-Omega 2013

rekking through the show floor at PAX Prime 13, we happened upon Sega's booth and couldn't help but be curious about the upcoming Wii U exclusives from Sega, so we figure "Why not tag team it?" Here our impressions with Andrew getting steamy with Bayonetta 2, and George handling the Blue Blur's latest outing.

PAX Prime 2013: Getting equipped with the Oculus Rift

he aspiration to develop the most immersive and simulative take on video games has been a task that has gradually gained progress in the last 20 years of the video game timeline, and the folks at Oculus Rift hope to pioneer a breakthrough that revolutionizes the way we play games today. We’ve all been sold on the pipe dream of consumer virtual reality before, so I’ll admit that up to the point to which I was able to meet and speak with the OCR team that my skepticism was a little thick to say the least. However, the moment I was strapped on with the high-tech scuba goggles, I can say that my shit was turned upside down and that I’m now a believer.

Pax Prime 2013 Impressions: The Elder Scrolls Online

here's nothing like stepping out into the new day and seeing the sun cast a radiant glow on the crystallized snow. A glance upward reveals a winged procession suddenly scattered by the howl of a savage wolf close by. The General calls out with desperate urgency, snapping the player back into the world. The dead have risen, and now several of the townspeople have gone missing. The experience feels very familiar, and in a title like The Elder Scrolls Online it is a smooth transition into the MMO landscape.

Why the Nintendo Holiday is boring, and their future looks scary

hether most of us (myself included) want to admit it or not, Nintendo has been flailing on the scene as of late. The lack of compelling Wii U software have gradually influenced the deflation of units sold throughout 2013, and with only the 3DS to shoulder the weight, it’s been a frustrating waiting game for those who have endorsed in the promise of the Big N into the next generation. Nintendo hasn’t been completely deaf to their situation though, and during a press release yesterday, made several announcements towards release dates, price drops, and their newest revision of the 3DS for the budget-minded consumer, or parent…and one has to ask if Nintendo has thought this all the way through?

The way I see it, it seems like it’s just more pandering in disguise, and pandering is one of the biggest factors that lead them down to this path to begin with.

Press Pause Radio at PAX Prime 2013

t’s been a while right? Thank Bullet Heavens (yeah, we just did that) that Ser was able to lead the charge for new content on Press Pause Radio these last couple of weeks, because our extended break was a little longer than we had hoped for. Wouldn’t you know it though? The moment we are ready to come back, it just so happens that it's the week of PAX Prime 2013, so we’re going to come out and hit the streets of Seattle, and we’re hitting them hard, like…uh; hard-hitters--yeah!

We’ll be on the floor mingling with every new indie game we comes across, and expect us to do some talking with the likes of Sega, Capcom, Ubisoft, and more in the biggest PAX we’ve covered yet. We’ll be recording a catch up a podcast just to clear some air from our absence on the web, then we’ll be dropping some podcast specials with some friends and give all the scoops and scores from Friday to Monday so stay tuned on the site!

Also, if you guys have any specific requests or feedback, be sure to email us at mailbag@presspauseradio.com, and if you guys are going to be there then don't be shy -- come say hello!
