QCF: Tesla Effect- A Tex Murphy Adventure

or all of the long lost franchises to reappear, Tex Murphy might just be the most obscure property to surface again. Let’s get one thing straight: Tesla Effect has probably got to be one of the most bizarre game releases in recent memory—not in style or content, but just its sheer existence. For those not in the know the following game reviewed here is a Tex Murphy adventure; as in an FMV Tex Murphy adventure, a “last seen in 1998” Tex Murphy adventure, a “originally appeared on the Commodore 64” Tex Murphy adventure.

Despite the quality, because of this the game is at least worth some degree of admiration that unfortunately may just be the only thing it deserves from you at all.

QCF: Avadon 2: The Corruption

f there's anything the last generation taught us, it's that platform specific experiences are quickly becoming a thing of the past. With fewer and fewer exclusive games, it really doesn't make sense anymore to restrict a game to one system. That is of course, unless the game only really works well on one control scheme.

Avadon 2 is a game like this. With its complex RPG system and familiar top-down keyboard controls, it's very hard to imagine this game being on anything but a PC. In essence it's a shout out to a lost era of PC-centric RPG's- with all the advantages (and flaws) that the genre had to offer. And depending on your tastes it may feel like a tribute to the past, or an insult to it.

We also talk about Chewbacca and Bryan Cranston a little here and there but that’s nothing new with us because we suck and stuff.

QCF: Mario Kart 8

espite the number of troubles plaguing Nintendo since the launch of the Wii U, there’s one consistent quality in their output that keeps them afloat, and that’s their trademark magic; that undeniably inherent charm in their titles that just focuses on delivering dumb fun.  Call it a trump card, or a desperate ace in the hole, but honestly; Nintendo loves what it does, and Mario Kart 8 is a celebration of what the brand does best—refined no less.

Which is not only fortunate for every Wii U owner out there, but reason enough to be a potential one too as with the Big N’s latest sequel to their cartoon take on Death Race 2000 is one of the more solid entries to the series.

QCF: Retro Game Crunch

t's certainly no secret that in my faded, old, dying eyes, the golden years of gaming are now a bygone era with only reminders of its glory remaining in my collection of cartridges and CD ROMs that, for the most part, currently reside in the closet of my studio. Pixels and bits trump system specs and polygons. FOR LIFE!

To that end, I'm loving PC gaming more and more, especially with the increasing number of retro-inspired and old-school feeling titles on services such as Desura, Steam and the Humble Store. Sure, there are typically zero physical copies appearing for the PC platform for these games, but that doesn't make the games any less fun and often times, they are nice and affordable.

One game that is sure to strike the fancy of any retronaut like myself is Retro Game Crunch, a delightful collection of 3rd generation-inspired titles, complete with the huge pixels, lo-fi sound and often-brutal difficulty old-timers like myself crave the ever-loving bits out of. Each title is totally different from the last yet somehow manages to stay just as fun and fresh between games. But for $15, is it worth your time? Get ready for a Ser Flash Seven-Part Machine-Gun review for Retro Game Crunch!

QCF: The Wolf Among Us-Episode 4

f you’re surprised that our review for the fourth episode of The Wolf Among Us has appeared so soon after the last, you are not the only one. In only about a month we now find ourselves heading towards the final episode, having been let in on what is really going on in Fabletown as well as the identity of whoever has been causing so much trouble. With the ghastly images of Bigby’s last encounter still fresh in his mind, he is only able to lick his wounds and attempt to track down the person responsible for lambasting his body with silver bullets and leaving him for dead.

So does the fourth episode in this dark fairytale give us all the answers in such a short period of time? The question really is are those answers enough for what is about to happen to the Sheriff and the rest of the Fables?
