QCF: Takeshi & Hiroshi

know it may sound a bit silly, especially when you think about the importance of roles like Fire Fighters and Surgeons but, it can be argued that Video Game Developers are among some of the biggest heroes of modern society (this can honestly be said about all creatives, but stick with me, I’m going somewhere with this.)

The worlds they can weave, with designs that are teeming with a sense of wonder that bewilders and empower anyone looking for an experience to escape to; Game Developers offer an invaluable service, and for one aspiring designer-in-the-making, it’s the one gift he can give to an ailing little brother.

In a story where your passion can be someone’s entire world, enter Takeshi & Hiroshi; an interactive novel from Oink Games that’s packed with a lot of heart, a surprising amount of gameplay depth, and the regrettable snag of ending way too soon.

QCF: Volta-X (Steam)

hen I first viewed Volta-X, I was drawn in by the art style; a blending of giant robot battles mashed together with Japanese monster movies and Saturday morning cartoons. But once I started playing the release from GungHo Online Entertainment America, I felt that the game was difficult to understand, and even harder to define. After my twenty plus hour initial playthrough of the game I can say that I still can’t quite define what it is, and unfortunately with a lack of community to battle and a UI that leaves plenty to desire, that may keep other players away from what could be a fantastic, albeit grindy RTS / RPG hybrid.

House Show: Eddie Kingston Appreciation Show (And All Out)

n this episode of House Show Toast welcomes his good friend Pristell onto the show as they discuss the most recent PPV from AEW, All Out. Love for the promo, as well as Mr. Kingston may be common throughout the show, but they also get into the matches and some of the show stealing performances from MJF and Thunder Rosa. Was the event as good as it's predecessors, or has the current climate of wrestling taken some shine from it's prestige? We hope to answer these questions and more. Thanks for checking out the show, and make sure to give a special thank you to our guest on Twitter.

PPR Presents Super Play: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero Part 1

all us a one-hit-wonder because man has it been awhile since we’ve published a Play Play video, let alone a SUPER Play—that’s right, a full-on Playthrough, and not just any playthrough either…

We’re diving into one of the worst games of the fifth generation—Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Join George and Sean as they wax poetic about how much they either love, or hate this game, because sure, while its way to dark and grainy to look at a lot of the time, it’s hard as shit, and cheap too, but they can’t stop coming back for more!

This is the first half of the session, where we manage to reach the halfway point of this abysmal spinoff—join us as we try to determine just why this is Georgie’s favorite Mortal Kombat game.

Join us as we break down prices, specs, launch titles, controller designs, overall value, and more here on this short-but-sweet episode of Press Pause Radio.

House Show: Thunderdome Teeth

o it's official, Press Pause Radio has a wrestling podcast. It may have taken several years to get around to it, but what better time to discuss all things professional wrestling when hardly any shows are happening due to the ongoing pandemic. Fear not, we still have plenty of topics to go over such as the Thunderdome, Custody Ladder Matches, why Bart Gunn should debut on RAW Underground and recent AEW happenings. Thanks for checking out the show, and stay tuned for more to come in the future.

35 years of Super Mario on Game Boy: a hopeful Game Boy Collection

fter months upon months of rumors about their existence, Nintendo finally put the scuttlebutt to rest, and officially revealed the Super Mario 3D Collection, a compilation of Mario’s iconic three-dimensional outings spanning three generations of hardware, all packed into one convenient title.

Aside from the glaring omission of Super Mario Galaxy 2 though, something else has been really bothering me; it’s something that seems to have been overlooked by a majority of the community, myself included, and only really came to me after a certain title was coincidentally teased in the last Nintendo direct prior to this Mario-centric one…

Why aren’t there any special curative efforts for the Plumber’s classic Game Boy stints? — Where has all of the love gone for Mario’s portable adventures?

While there may have been an argument over just how much love these titles may have fostered from the Mario fandom, the hype over the recent output of portable tributes mobile device has left a lasting impact. Tributes like the Analogue Pocket, the Mega Man Zero Collection, and the soon-to-be-launched Collection of SaGa has proven that the library of software on Nintendo’s signature on the go device is still very much revered. Among these titles, are some of the finest Mario titles developed by the Big N, and if the 35th anniversary of the Nintendo’s Italian Stallion is any indication, there’s no better time than now to capitalize on re-releasing his Black-&-White classics onto their Console-Portable hybrid while the iron is still hot for the little thing.

id anybody else catch that video game documentary on Netflix, High Score? We personally forgot to finish it with all of the EXCITEMENT that was coming out of Gamescom 2020! Oh well, I guess we’ll have to talk about the weird omission of Dragon Quest in the RPG episode some other time…

Anyway, with pandemic still being a major threat, this year’s iconic trade show took a remote approach, featuring a showcase that brief lineup of upcoming next generation games appearing on next generation hardware that we STILL don’t know the release dates, or more importantly, the retail cost for.

These games include Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Marvel’s Avengers, Proto Corgi, The next Dragon Age, Fall Guys Season 2 and more. We also talk about the new PlayStation ODE, the X-Station, the latest wave of games announced for the Sega Astro City Mini, GameTap, the 25th anniversary of the Sega Saturn, Bon Appétit, 8K Display technology, Doritos Flamin’ Hot Limón Chips, the confusion of Wii U marketing along with a whole mess of other topics.

With that being said, enjoy the show, and wear a fucking mask when you go outside…Thanks!
