Bullet Heaven, Episode 217 - Raid on Bungeling Bay (Famicom)

lot of early Famicom shooters aren't exactly the most noteworthy entries in STG history. But what's this? A basic shooter with real-time strategy elements? By Will Wright?! Oh, and a weird name. I guess it's time to check out Raid on Bungeling Bay! How does it stack up?

Bullet Heaven, Episode 211 - Star Soldier Saga Vol.4: Gunhed

1988 was new territory for the Hudson Zenkoku Caravan. Not only was there a general, complete shift to the PC engine, Power League Baseball made for a sport-tastic, decidedly non-shmupalicious time. Not so in 1989 though, as Hudson would pubish a Star Solider style shooter by Compile...

Bullet Heaven, Episode #161 - Star Soldier Saga Vol.1: Star Force

Tecmo may not have especially many shooting games uner its belt - they're much more famous for their fighting games and early sports titles - but one very early arcade title shook up what people knew about space shooters and singlehandedly created a whole subgenre: The Caravan Shooter. Released to the Famicom in 1985, Star Force paved the way for the venerable Star Soldier Series... but how does it stack up?

PPR Presents Play Play: Super Air Zonk

k, so we did get a bit distracted when we first started our special look at the Bonk series the last couple of months and just ended up being really sporadic with our video coverage, but let me tell you, we sure as shit didn’t forget about it

This latest entry is our look at Super Air Zonk, the rare, often forgotten sequel to the shoot-em up spinoff of the iconic, bulbous-headed Neanderthal. This quote unquote “Rockabilly Paradise” goes in a significantly different direction with its gameplay in comparison to its predecessor, and Ser and George discuss upon whether or not that was a good thing, with flying bento box attacks and all.

PPR Presents Play Play: Hudson Selection Vol. 3: PC Genjin

his is the fourth day of our special look at the Bonk Series! We’ll be covering 10 of the bulbous-headed caveman’s titles over the week, and well; we won’t be covering any of them in any specific order either—so deal with it or whatever.

Exclusive to the land of the rising sun, The original title that started it all received a remake on the PlayStation 2 and Gamecube, and boy did Hudson take a lot of weird liberties with the visual style—which is kind of cool, but mostly disturbing.

Eh, it’s still pretty cool, but whether or not that it’s worthy enough to faithfully substitute the charm of the original is up for debate, and dammit, do we do just that! Why don’t you guys just go on ahead and click play now to check it out!

Bullet Heaven HD, Episode 72 - Star Soldier: Vanishing earth

ow many traditional shooters does the Nintendo 64 have in it's library? Hint: I can count them on one finger. Reviews from 1999 scathe it. Fan websites revile it. But is it honestly worth all the hate? In episode 72 of Bullet Heaven HD, we take a look at Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth on the Nintendo 64.

SPECIAL THANKS to Georgie BoysAXE for this cartridge!
